2022 Fall Events and Destinations in Austin
The summer heat is (almost) over and Austinites are looking forward to fall. After a summer like this, it will be nice to see temperatures drop and enjoy some time outside that doesn’t involve a lot of perspiration. Texas Auto Center has some suggestions on where you can spend some quality time around town. If you need a fresh ride to get there, come see us at Texas Auto Center.
Get Lost
If you love getting lost in the great outdoors, then you can enjoy that sensation closer to home with a variety of corn mazes nearby. The 2022 Georgetown Fall Festival starts in late September and runs through November. You’ll find a maze as well as a 2-acre pumpkin patch and other great activities. Sweet Berry Farm has an annual Harvest of Fall Fun that includes a maze as well as hayrides and scarecrow stuffing. Finally, Barton Hills Farms' annual Austin Fall Festival is in its 11th year and includes all your fall favorites and a 5-acre corn maze.
Oktoberfest
Austin is one of many Texas spots that have multiple Oktoberfest celebrations. Banger’s on Rainey St has an annual Oktoberfest celebration that is one of the best in town with great eats and music. Many local breweries such as Live Oak also have celebrations honoring Oktoberfest. The largest Oktoberfest events happen in nearby communities with strong German histories like Fredericksburg and Pflugerville, where they put on some of the biggest festivals each year.
Get Smart
The 2022 Texas Book Festival lands on November 5th and 6th this year. Try a festival of a different sort this year at the State Capitol. The event will feature over 250 authors of this year's top literature. Among the guests will be Janet Evanovich, author of over forty New York Times bestsellers. Others include Omar Epps, Sandra Brown, and Angie Cruz.
Get Scared
Austin is known for its variety of haunted houses. This year will be no different, with the usual suspects like House of Torment returning for another scary good time this year. If you’re among the “faint of heart” places like that always warn away, or you’re just looking for a good time for the kids, consider Boo at the Zoo at the Austin Zoo. Each year the family-friendly event provides a safe environment for trick or treating as well as many fun activities.
